The "Only If" List
Not everyone needs these. Open what applies to you.
Taking medication
Make sure prescription meds are legal, labeled, and packed in original packaging.
- Carry the prescription or doctor's letter.
- Keep medication in your cabin bag.
- Bring enough for delays, not just perfect travel days.
Riding a scooter
Bali traffic is not the place to learn. Be honest with yourself.
- Check whether your license and insurance actually cover riding.
- Wear a proper helmet, not the cracked one they hand you.
- Skip riding if you are jet-lagged, drinking, or new to scooters.
Staying 30+ days
Week four sneaks up fast. Sort the bureaucracy before it sorts you.
- Confirm whether your visa can be extended.
- Keep passport pages and proof of onward travel ready.
- Use a stay with reliable WiFi if you work remotely.
Arriving after dark
Late arrivals need fewer decisions, not cheaper one.
- Confirm 24-hour reception or self check-in.
- Save the exact address in Indonesian and English.
- Pre-book pickup or use official transport. Skip the airport taxi hustle.
Working from Bali
Good WiFi claims are not the same thing as good upload speed.
- Ask your stay for a speed test screenshot (If Possible).
- Have a backup data plan. Cafe WiFi is a gamble.
- Avoid first-day meetings if you can.
When the Core List Is Done
Stop adding tasks. Bali is easier when your first day is boring in the best possible way: connected, insured, checked in, and not negotiating tired.
